How To Compare Treadmills

April 22, 2009 · Filed Under Treadmill Reviews

Treadmills are the most common kind of exercise & fitness equipment being used by people today whether in gyms or at home. For those who do not know much about exercise equipment, a treadmill is a stationary machine where people can either walk or run on depending on the speed that they set it in. Just think of a conveyor belt, a treadmill is very similar to that – only bigger of course. Before you buy a new treadmill for your home, you should thoroughly research and compare treadmills first. Here are some ways to help you spot the treadmill which will be a good fit for you and your needs.

• Size matters: sure treadmills only have one purpose and that is to get you sweating to help trim off those unsightly flabs of yours and help you build lower body strength but when you do start to compare treadmill models you will realize that there is such an abundance of treadmill varieties out there and not only do they differ in type but there is of course the issue of size. If you live in a huge mansion in the Hollywood Hills or wherever then size would really not be much of an issue to you. But what if you live one-bedroom apartment or you already have four kids then space would really be an issue. So when you are going to shop and compare treadmills do not just consider the price and the treadmill type but where you will also put it in your house.

• Treadmill types: when it comes to having to compare treadmill models to help you find something that will be a good fit to you, finding the right type of treadmill definitely goes hand in hand with finding a treadmill that would fit your home. So what are the different types of treadmills out there? There’s crosswalk treadmills, walking or running treadmills, elliptical treadmills, and folding treadmills.

• Treadmill brands & prices. Depending on your budget and workout needs, there are many different brands you can choose from, including Nordictrack, Reebok, Image, Healthrider, Sole, Smooth, Weider, Epic, Gold Gyms, Weslo Cadence, Horizon Fitness, etc.

While you would want to bring a friend or a family member while you are treadmill shopping to get their opinion, it is also best to seek advice from the store attendants – who are supposedly the ones who know a lot about this stuff so that you won’t end up getting shortchanged. Most importantly, always compare treadmill brands & prices!
